The US embassy in Riyadh has issued an advisory urging American nationals in the region to “exercise heightened vigilance” amid attacks on Saudi Arabia by Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

“The Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including against civilian airports, and the military conflict has the potential to escalate,” the department warns.

US nationals have been advised to be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions, and to check flight departure status directly with the airline and with the airport.
