HYDERABAD: Divisional Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi chaired a meeting on Tuesday to review the quality of Indus river water and its total dissolved solids (TDS) levels.

Officials of the irrigation department, Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) and Hyderabad Water and Sewerage Corporation (HWSC) told the meeting that samples from various locations had been tested at laboratories. TDS levels of 595 to 600 were within the prescribed standard.

The commissioner directed departments to continue regular sampling and monitoring, and told Sepa to keep industrial treatment plants along the river operational and act against violators.
