LAHORE: A judicial magistrate at the Cantonment Courts on Monday granted police a further four-day physical remand of two suspects in a case of alleged gang-rape of an Azeri woman.

The suspects were produced before Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood on completion of their initial six-day physical remand.

The investigating officer told the court that the investigation was still underway, therefore, further physical remand of the suspects was needed.

The magistrate allowed the request and extended the physical remand of both suspects for four more days. He directed the police to produce the suspects again on Oct 9.

Meanwhile, a sessions court on Monday extended the interim pre-arrest bail of a woman suspect in the same case.

The suspect appeared before the court on expiry of her bail period.

Asked if the case investigation had been completed, a police official told the court that more time was required for the purpose.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Rafaqat Ali extended the pre-arrest bail of the woman until Oct 13 and directed her to ensure she joins the police investigation.

Defence-C police registered the case on the complaint of the Azeri woman, who accused three men of subjecting her to gang-rape. She had also accused two women of abetment in the crime.
