Work on Nasser Bagh, Neela Gumbad parking plazas reviewed

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) administration reviewed progress on the city’s two major parking plazas at Nasser Bagh and Neela Gumbad, being constructed by the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (Tepa).

During the meeting presided over by LDA Director General Tahir Farooq, Tepa Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain and the project directors gave briefings, stating that 83pc of the work on the Nasser Bagh underground parking plaza has been completed, while the Neela Gumbad facility has achieved 81pc completion. Electrical, painting and flooring works at both parking plazas were currently underway, the meeting was told.

The participants also reviewed development works being carried out under the Urban Regeneration pilot project along the Outfall Road. As part of the pilot project, at the Inner Circular Road and around Bhati Chowk, work on façade improvement, footpaths, parking and seating areas had been completed on one side of the road between Bhati Chowk and Urdu Bazaar. The meeting was further told that the pilot project on the Inner Circular Road also included decorative lighting, signage, a U-turn and other related works.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Farooq directed the officials concerned to expedite the finishing work at the underground parking plazas.

Later, the DG visited various underpasses along the Canal Bank Road and reviewed the ongoing improvement works. During the visit, the LDA chief inspected signage, asphalt work and fascia gantry installations at the underpasses. He directed the project director to ensure proper lane marking on bothtracks of the Canal Road.
