RAHIM YAR KHAN: Police have arrested a seminary (madressah) teacher on the charges of subjecting a minor student to corporal punishment on Monday.

As per police sources, Zeeshan Kamboh, a carpenter of Chak 72-NP, said in his complaint filed with Saddar police station that his five-year-old son Talha had been learning the Holy Quran at a mosque-cum-madressah at Chak 72-NP.

He said that on Oct 4, when Talha returned home from the mosque, his left ear was bleeding and there were marks of slapping on his cheek.

He said his son told him that he was beaten by his teacher Qari Imran, a resident of Iqbalabad.

He alleged that the cleric had been witnessed torturing the other students as well. He added that when he confronted Imran for beating the students, he hurled threats at him.

On the complaint of Zeeshan, the police arrested Imran after registration of the First Information Report (FIR).
