Minor boy run over, killed by water tanker

KARACHI: A boy was killed and his father injured when a fast-moving water tanker hit their motorcycle near Sakhi Hasan in North Nazimabad on Monday evening, police said.

A traffic police official said they were heading towards Five Star Chowrangi when the water tanker hit their two-wheeler and ran them over.

They suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared 12-year-old Rayan dead. His father, Tahir, was admitted for treatment.

The driver responsible for the fatal accident, Mohammed Nadeem, was arrested and the heavy vehicle impounded by the Taimuria police.

The traffic police attributed the fatal accident to rash and negligent driving.
