Last ruler of Khairpur State passes away

SUKKUR: Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur, the last ruler of the former princely state of Khairpur, passed away here on Monday. He was 93.

He has left behind two sons and a daughter.

The funeral prayers will be offered at Kot Diji on Tuesday (today) at 11am.

The late Talpur played a significant role in the history of Khairpur State during the transition following the creation of Pakistan.

After Pakistan came into being, he placed his trust in Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and signed an instrument of accession of Khairpur State to Pakistan.

The news of his death has cast a pall of grief and mourning across Khairpur and several other parts of Sindh.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of Mir Ali Murad Khan Talpur. He said his services for the preservation of the history and culture of Khairpur State and Sindh will always be remembered.
