New project to provide Faisalabad with 30m gallons water

TOBA TEK SINGH: As much as 30 million gallons of potable water will be added to the Wasa Faisalabad system daily for 600,000 rural residents by June 2027 through the surface water treatment plant project costing Rs22 billion.

The project is a collaboration between the Punjab government and the French Development Agency.

Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh reviewed the ongoing work of laying the pipeline for the project on Sunday. Wasa Managing Director Saqib Raza and representatives of the French Development Agency informed him about the progress of the project.

The MD said that such a huge investment had never been made in the history of Faisalabad and with the completion of the project, there would be a 30 percent increase in water supply. Construction work on the project would be carried out by Chinese engineers and experts, he added.

The commissioner also visited the project site in Makoana and the water treatment plant in Jhaal Khanuana.
