Man commits infanticide

BAHAWALPUR: A newborn girl was allegedly killed by her father who slammed her onto the floor in his house in Ahmedpur East.

According to police and Rescue 1122, Muhammad Fayyaz, a labourer, had strained relations with his wife. At the time of occurrence, both husband and wife quarreled and exchanged harsh words.

During the fight, Fayyaz lifted his daughter and body-slammed her on the floor. The infant died instantly due to a head injury while the suspect fled away.

The City Police Station Ahmedpur East sent the infant’s body to the THQ Hospital Ahmedpur East for a post-mortem. A murder case is yet to be registered.
