Two killed as livestock-laden trailer overturns

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: At least two people were killed and 11 others injured when a livestock-laden trailer overturned near Yarik Toll Plaza on Dera Ismail Khan-Bannu Road on Sunday.

The trailer, carrying livestock from Multan to Bannu, went out of control and overturned due to a mechanical fault near the toll plaza.

Liaqat Wazir, 55, a resident of Mir Ali, and another passenger lost their lives, while the 11 injured included Mustafa Kamal, 50, Shaukat Ali, 21, Tahseenullah, 28, Ghulam Fareed, 40, Jamal Khan, 65, Arshad Ali, 26, Waheedur Rehman, 60, Sajid, 15, Namus, 24, Shukar Niaz, 44, and Zahoor Ali, 44.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene soon after receiving the information about the accident and shifted the injured to the DHQ Hospital, Dera Ismail Khan, for medical treatment.

Hospital sources said the condition of two injured persons was critical.

Dozens of livestock worth millions of rupees were also killed and injured in the accident.

Police have initiated necessary proceedings.
