Three held, over 300 snatched mobile phones recovered

KARACHI: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested three suspected robbers and recovered over 300 snatched and stolen mobile phones from their custody.

The Shah Latif Town police said that acting on a tip-off and with the help of technology, they arrested Liaquat Ali, Mohammed Ali alias Adi and Mehboob alias Romio.

The held suspects used to snatch cell phones from people or pickpocket them.

The police have recovered 310 cell phones from their custody.

A police spokesperson said it was an organised gang which worked in three shifts. The suspects used to take passengers in a rickshaw and drop them in a deserted area after looting their cell phones.

The suspects were also experts in changing IMEI numbers of phones.

Efforts are under way to arrest the remaining members of the gang who have been identified, added the spokesperson.

Man held for killing pregnant wife

Police on Sunday claimed to have “solved a blind murder case” of a pregnant woman by arresting her husband in Bin Qasim Town.

The young woman was found shot dead in bushes near Gulshan-i-Hadeed a few days ago. The investigators traced the suspect, who is the husband of the deceased, and arrested him along with his accomplice over charges of the murder.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar and IGP Javed Alam Odho appreciated the performance of the police for solving the case.
