NAROWAL: Sialkot police have arrested a man who, along with his accomplices, allegedly shot his sister deadin the name of honour during a family gathering at Agoki.

As per police’s preliminary investigations Rasool Fatima (24), a resident of Muzaffarpur, was married to one Mushahid Abbas. However, she allegedly developed relations with a man, Shiraz, and started living with him after leaving her husband’s house two-and-a-half months ago.

The police say that Fatima’s brother, Syed Zaki Abbas, harboured a grudge against Shiraz and shot at and injured him on August 2, 2026. However, he was later released on a bail by a court.

The police say that the elders of both Zaki’s and Shiraz’s families had gathered to resolve the issue, when Zaki shot his sister Fatima, who was also present there. She succumbed to her wounds before being shifted to hospital.

Agoki police registered an FIR against Zaki, his mother Syeda Farida Wasi, and three others -- Iqbal Shah, Hassan Shah, and Abbas Tufail under sections 302, 311, 148, and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) retired Capt Dost Muhammad took notice of the “honour killing” and ordered immediate arrest of the suspects.

Accordingly, a police team arrested Zaki in a raid after tracing him through modern technology and human intelligence.

The DPO stated that protection of women and children is among the police’s top priorities.

He added that the case would be examined from all angles during the investigation and police would ensure that the killer got convicted by the court.

SUSPENDED: Gujranwala commissioner has ordered suspension of Daska naib tehsildar on the recommendation of Sialkot deputy commissioner.

As per officials the Naib Tehsildar Mehmood Javed Bagri has been accused of violating a civil court judgment while making entries of two sale deeds.

Deputy Commissioner Awais Mushtaq also recommended proceedings against the naib tehsildar under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act, 2006.
