GUJRANWALA, July 24: In a rare move the PTCL on Monday suspended top officials of its Gujranwala region besides others on charges on dereliction in duty.

Director phones Muhammad Ilyas, People’s Colony divisional engineer Kaleem Sherwani and assistant engineer Ikhlaq Ahmad now face proceedings under the removal from service law.

The action followed public complaints as over 2000 phones under the People’s Colony exchange jurisdiction remained silent for several days.

The suspension of a regional head over dead phones plaints is being described as a rare action not reported in the recent past.
