GWADAR: Four employees of the National Logistics Cell (NLC) were martyred when unidentified armed men opened fire on their pickup near the Pakistan-Iran border in Gwadar district, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday at Border Post No 250, about 60 kilometres from Jiwani Tehsil in Gwadar district, where the armed motorcyclists opened fire on a pickup carrying the four victims.

The deceased were identified as 24-year-old Ghulam Mustafa, son of Riaz Hussain, a resident of Chak No 132 in Punjab’s Layyah district; 34-year-old Sanam Masih, son of Saleem, from Sheikhupura district; 36-year-old Kanwal Shehzad, son of Dilshad Ahmed, a resident of Teacher Colony, Nawan Killi, Quetta; and 26-year-old Danish Iqbal, son of Falak Naz, from Ghundi Killi, Takht-i-Nasrati, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district.

Police said the attackers later set the vehicle on fire, completely destroying it. The victims were NLC employees and were reportedly carrying a large amount of cash, which the attackers allegedly took after the assault.

Police recovered a motorcycle from the crime scene, which is believed to have been left behind by the attackers.
