SWABI: A windstorm hit Swabi district on Friday night, tripping 16 electricity feeders as Peshawar Electric Supply Company staff worked to restore power supply to consumers.
The affected feeders were in Charbagh, Shamansoor, Mansabdar, Tordher, Swabi city, Karnal Sher Khan Kalay, Bamkhel, Totalai, Chenglai, Kaddi, Palodand, Zaida, Town 1 and Town 2.
When contacted, Pesco officials told Dawn on Saturday that 16 feeders were affected, but they did not have enough staff to work round the clock to restore power supply. However, they said they were making efforts to restore the supply.
They said that in many regions, electricity poles were uprooted and transmission cables broken. They said in some areas, large trees fell on transmission lines, which caused the supply suspension.
Consumers said Pesco staffers only focused on restoring power supply to Swabi city, ignoring other regions.
The windstorm knocked down signboards and blew away rooftop solar panels, inflicting losses on people.
Standing crops were also damaged.
