HARIPUR: The police have registered a criminal case against two people, including a police constable, for allegedly harassing a female police constable.

One of the accused has been arrested, police confirmed here on Friday.

The Khanpur police quoted woman constable Amina Kosar, a Mang villager appointed to the Pind Muneem police post, as saying that Ali Nisar, a resident of Pind Muneem village, had been constantly sending her unsolicited mobile messages and making unnecessary telephone calls for the last few days.

The complainant accused Nisar of chasing and harassing her on the way home and threatening her with dire consequences over failure to pay money.

According to the constable, her real sister’s husband Afzal, also a police constable posted to Abbottabad, shared her number with Ali Nisar without permission. She also accused constable Afzal of hacking and misusing her Whatsapp number. She claimed that both the accused approached her brothers and other family members and allegedly assassinated her character.

The woman sought her department’s help for carrying out legal action against the accused and providing security to her and the entire family of the accused.

On her complaint, the Khanpur police have registered a criminal case against Ali Nisar and constable Afzal under Sections 28-D of the Telegraph Act and the PPC’s sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (insulting modesty of a person or causing sexual harassment through words, gestures, sounds or physical conduct). Ali Nisar has been arrested, while the constable is at large, according to Khanpur police.
