LAHORE: Muhammad Ayub, son of Dawn’s senior sports reporter Muhammad Yaqoob, passed away on Tuesday. He was 32.
After suffering a brain haemorrhage about 10 days ago, he was rushed to the LGH where he underwent a surgery. However, doctors could not save his life.
Ayub was a professional swimming trainer. He is survived by a minor boy and a widow.
A large number of members of the journalist community and friends of Mr Yaqoob attended the funeral prayers.
Ayub was laid to rest in Shershah graveyard near GOR-III at Shadman-Shama Chowk.
Qul will be held on Wednesday (today) after Zuhr prayers at a mosque near Mr Yaqoob’s residence.
Former PCB chairmen Najam Sethi and Zaka Ashraf, former information secretary Amjad Hussain and Sports Journalists Association expressed their condolences with the journalist.
