KARACHI, July 23: The Muslim Ummah cannot make headway while remaining aloof from the comity of nations. This was stated by the vice-chancellor of Karachi University, Dr Pirzada Qasim while delivering presidential address at a short course organised by the Institute of Clinical Psychology.

Dwelling on the theme of the month-long course “Violence in Muslim Community”, the vice-chancellor said that such a trend would have to be curbed. This was against humanity and the teachings of Islam, he said.

Course Director Prof (Dr) Ahmed Ali Khan pointed out that sense of lack of protection, lack of tolerance, violence and extremism pointed towards mental and psychological pressures.

Later, the vice-chancellor distributed certificates among the participants and inaugurated the posters’ exhibition on the issue. —APP
