ISLAMABAD: PTI leaders on Thursday were not allowed to meet the party’s founding chairman Imran Khan in Adiala jail.

The party had submitted a list of six leaders — Sameul Yaqoob, Chaudhry Sajid Hussain, Malik Tariq Rikhi, Ahtisham Ali Kayani, Muhammad Irfan and Parveen Rehmani — with Adiala jail administration to arrange a meeting with Imran Khan on Thursday.

Advocate Awais Younas Chaudhry, while talking to Dawn, said that all the leaders reached the jail at 2pm which was the time of the meeting, but were told that they will be informed about it.

“Although the cutoff time for the meeting was 4pm, they waited till 4:30pm hoping that they will be called for the meeting. However after failing to meet him, they returned,” he said.

Advocate Awais said that it was unfortunate that the meeting was not allowed despite the orders of the Islamabad High Court.

The high court has ordered meetings of the family members and lawyers with the former prime minister on Tuesdays and with party leaders on Thursdays.
