RAWALPINDI: Technical faults were found in six of the 11 electric buses sent to Murree under the Green Bus Electric Bus project of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
Taking immediate notice of the matter, Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi himself went with a technical team to inspect the buses and sent a letter to the secretary of transport to ensure their immediate repair and complete fitness.
According to officials, Chinese engineers will visit Murree to remove the technical faults and conduct a complete inspection and repair of the buses.
The deputy commissioner has issued clear instructions that none of the buses will be allowed to ply on the roads until they are fully fit and receive technical clearance.
The district administration said every possible precautionary measure was being taken to protect the public from any kind of difficulty or substandard service.
It said that after the buses were declared fully fit, better, safer and more comprehensive travel facilities would be provided to citizens and tourists under the Green Bus project.
On the special instructions of the Punjab CM, 11 electric buses were handed over to the Murree district administration in June to reduce environmental pollution and provide modern, safe and comfortable travel facilities to citizens and tourists.
