TAXILA: Passengers remained unhurt when a bogie of 1-Up Khyber Mail derailed near Taxila on Monday, briefly disrupting rail traffic on the Rawalpindi-Peshawar section, railway authorities said. According to the Pakistan Railways officials, the incident occurred when the train was passing through a bridge in the Taxila area while moving towards Peshawar.

Railway authorities said the derailed bogie was subsequently put back on track and the affected railway line was cleared, allowing train operations to resume.

“There was no loss of life or damage to property in the incident,” the authorities said, adding that the disruption to rail traffic was brief. The incident caused concern among passengers and residents in the vicinity.

Railway traffic on the Rawalpindi-Peshawar section was restored after the derailed bogie was placed back on track and the line was declared fit for operations. Railway authorities have ordered an inquiry to determine the cause of the derailment.
