LAHORE: The Punjab Police have completed security measures by deploying 55,000 personnel for about 4,500 gatherings and processions across the province for Eid Miladun Nabi.
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem said that the Counter Terrorism Department would also monitor the main gatherings other than the field police officers, including regional and district police officers, across the province.
He said that security would remain on high alert during the Eid Miladun Nabi programmes, while strict surveillance would be maintained over miscreants and anti-state elements.
A Punjab Police spokesperson said that more than 55,000 officers and personnel would be deployed for the security of 1,436 Miladun Nabi gatherings and 2,479 processions across the province, while 216 processions and 111 Milad gatherings would be held in Lahore.
More than 8,000 officers, personnel and volunteers would perform security duties in the provincial capital, he added.
The IGP directed that strict security arrangements in accordance with the SOPs be ensured for all processions, rallies and gatherings on 12th Rabiul Awwal, while additional personnel should be deployed at sensitive locations.
The gatherings and rallies should be monitored with the help of Safe City cameras, he said.
