BANNU: Terrorists shot at and injured a police constable here on Monday.

According to police, constable Safatullah was injured when terrorists riding a motorcycle opened fire on him while he was on his way to his duty station. He was rushed to the Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and launched a search to trace and arrest the attackers. They also collected evidence from the crime scene.

Bannu district police officer Mohammad Furqan Bilal visited the hospital and enquired after the injured constable.

He asked doctors to ensure provision of the best possible medical care to the injured.

The DPO said that terrorists involved in the incident would be arrested and brought to justice at the earliest.

Meanwhile, police foiled a terror bid by defusing a remote-controlled improvised explosive device fitted to a motorcycle near Mandan Gate in the jurisdiction of the city police station here on Monday.

According to police, they received information that terrorists had brought an explosives-laden motorcycle to Bannu city.

Acting on the information, personnel of the city police station and the bomb disposal squad reached the site and cordoned off the area.

The BDS experts neutralised the IED containing seven to eight kilogrammes of explosives and planted on a motorcycle.

The BDS team defused the device and thwarted a potential terrorist attack.
