LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested four persons, including a passport office superintendent, on corruption charges.

The FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore conducted a raid at the passport office in Harbanspura and arrested Superintendent Abdul Ghaffar along with former contract employee Ansar, security guard Zubair Ashfaq and alleged agent Mubashir Mahmood.

According to the FIA, the suspects were caught red-handed while allegedly exploiting citizens by promising to facilitate the issuance of passports through illegal means in return for money.

The agency said the action was part of a crackdown on individuals involved in unlawful activities inside and outside passport offices.

Separately, the FIA registered a case and arrested suspects Waheed Gul and Muhammad Amin Saleem for allegedly violating the Copyright Act. The FIA claimed that a large quantity of counterfeit products of a well-known registered company was recovered from their possession.
