RAWALPINDI: The district administration and local police on Tuesday reviewed arrangements for Eid Miladun Nabi (peace be upon him) and made it clear that no musical instruments would be allowed in the main procession and sound systems will be switched off during prayers times.

A meeting regarding the arrangements for the processions of Rabiul Awwal 12 was held here, chaired by Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner retired Captain Nadeem Nasir and CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera.

The meeting was attended by members of the District Peace Committee, heads of Milad committees, organisers and stage holders of processions, assistant commissioners, police, Rescue 1122, traffic police, municipal institutions and other relevant departments.

The meeting reviewed the arrangements for the processions and Milad gatherings, security plan, routes, traffic plan, cleanliness, elimination of encroachments, electricity and lighting arrangements, rescue services etc.

The deputy commissioner said that all arrangements for the processions and gatherings should be completed on time. “Cleanliness, streetlights, traffic management and other basic facilities should be ensured on the routes of the processions,” he said.

He said the cooperation of the district administration, police, peace committees and scholars of all schools of thought was necessary in maintaining peace and order.

With the same spirit of Muharram, he said, an atmosphere of mutual unity, religious harmony and brotherhood will be maintained in Rabiul Awwal as well. The birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a very sacred and blessed occasion for us, he added.

Along with devotion and respect, peace and order, discipline and mutual tolerance should be given priority at all times. He urged the representatives of the District Peace Committee and Milad committees to fully cooperate with the district administration and law enforcement agencies and ensure adherence to the prescribed routes and procedures of the processions.

The CPO on the occasion said foolproof security arrangements will be made for the processions of Rabbiul Awal 12. The role of scholars of all schools of thought has always been constructive in establishing peace.

Officers of the relevant departments gave a briefing on their respective arrangements and security plans, while representatives of Milad committees presented their suggestions to make the arrangements more effective.
