QUETTA: A high-level meeting of the Communication and Works (C&W) Department reviewed progress on Phase I and II of road-sector projects launched across the province under the Balochistan Socio-Economic Development Programme.

The meeting, chaired by C&W Secretary Babar Khan, was attended by senior engineers, project coordinators and district officers from various regions. The participants briefed the secretary on the progress of all ongoing road-sector projects under Phases I and II.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Khan emphasised that completing the development schemes within the current fiscal year, and even ahead of schedule, was the department’s top priority.

The secretary expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work on certain critical projects, warning that delays would not be tolerated. He issued strict instructions to accelerate construction work and improve the pace of progress.

Mr Khan highlighted that the timely completion of these projects would bring prosperity to remote and underdeveloped areas of the province. Improved road connectivity would provide easier access to urban centres and benefit all segments of society in these regions. He stressed that infrastructure development and timely execution of projects were key drivers of growth and stability in Balochistan.

He further noted that the benefits of these schemes must reach far-flung communities without delay, ensuring that the fruits of development were shared equitably. He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to transparency, efficiency and quality in project execution.
