RAHIM YAR KHAN: Three persons, including a tribal leader, were allegedly killed at an outhouse by the Katcha area dacoits in the Ahmedpur Lama police limits in Sadiqabad tehsil on Tuesday night.
The complainant, Aftab Ahmed Kosh, a resident of Kot Mir Sahib, Katcha Kashmore stated in the FIR that on Tuesday night, he, along with Altaf Ahmed, Yasin, Sardar Alamgir Kosh and his guards Nazim and Mashooq, was present at the outhouse of Yasin Kosh.
He said that after dinner, Sardar Alamgir slept in a room, while his guards in the courtyard. He said that around 2.10am, some 11 to 12 armed men entered the outhouse by scaling the boundary wall.
He said the intruders included the Katcha area dacoits Ali Nawaz alias Gambo, Shimloo, Sultan, Abdul Wahab, Ali Hassan and Allah Warraya, of Kosh clan, residents of Mavanwala village in the Ronti area in Obaro teshil of Ghotki district, Sindh.
The complainant said that three to four of the intruders resorted to aerial firing and threatened him and others that if they retaliated they would be killed.
Meanwhile, he said, Ali Nawaz, Shimlo and Sultan entered the room and opened fire on Alamgir, while others shot his guards Nazim and Mashooq.
As a result, Alamgir and Nazim died on the spot, while Mashooq was critically injured. He too later succumbed to his bullet wounds.
He said that after the killings, all the suspects fled the scene, hurling threats.
About the motive of the murders, Aftab said in the FIR that in the killers suspected that Alamgir had a role in the killing of two members of Kosh clan -- Malava Kosh and Dodoo Kosh -- allegedly by Sindh police.
He claimed that the three persons were murdered to avenge the killing of the two clansmen.
Ahmedpur Lama police have registered the case under sections 302, 337H(2), 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Meanwhile, a police press release says that headed by District Police Officer (DPO) Irfan Ali Sammon, RYK police launched a heavy crackdown on the hideouts of the suspects involved in the triple murder. It adds that the police torched many hideouts of the suspects in the Katcha area.
The DPO says that all resources are being utilised to arrest the killers.
According to locals, the murder of Sardar Alamgir Kosh and his guards would affect the peace in the Katcha area because he had played an important role in surrender of many Katcha area dacoit gangs belonging to Kosh tribe.
They apprehend that if Kosh tribe decides to avenge the murders, the Katcha areas, including those in Sadiqabad tehsil, may witness more killings, worsening the law and order situation.
