OKARA: A 12-year-old boy drowned in the Sutlej while trying to cross the river with cattle on Tuesday near Haveli Lakha.
As per details, Muhammad Khan, a resident of Wasu Salam locality, drowned in a deep water area of the river while guiding his cattle across the river.
The residents informed Rescue 1122, however, he could not be saved and his body was retrieved by the rescuers.
MINORITY DAY: A ceremony was held to mark the Minority Day at the Deputy Commissioner’s office where members of the Christian community participated.
DC Muhammad Ikram Malik said this event was being observed to celebrate brotherhood irrespective of religion and to promote harmony among all citizens of the country.
The members of the Christian community extended thanks to the DC for arranging the event.
