KARACHI, July 19: All DCOs, EDOs (Revenue), DDOs (Revene) and Mukhtiarkars all over Sindh have been entrusted with the powers of First Class Magistrate while Assistant Mukhtiarkar will have the powers of second class magistrate.

These officials will be called as Special Judicial Magistrates and function under the concerned session judges.

According to a home department notification, only those officials will be declared as special judicial magistrates who had completed required special training and have passed the compulsory departmental examination.

The special judicial magistrates could use their powers in cases under 107, 112, 127 to 143, 145, 146, 147, 174 and 176, West Pakistan Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1965, Sanctity of Ramazan Ordinance 1981, Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering and Hoarding Act 1977, Sindh Essential Commodities Price Control and Prevention of Profiteering Ordinance 2006.—APP
