KARACHI, July 19: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has directed the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board not to give connections to any other town from the COD line that supply water to Lyari Town.

At a meeting held at KWSB office on Wednesday, the nazim asked the board to cut off the connections, if any, given to the towns other than Lyari. KWSB MD Brig Iftikhar Haider, DMD (Planning) Shahid Salim, Lyari Town Nazim Malik Fayyaz and other officials were present.

Mustafa Kamal said that Lyari TMO and KWSB chief engineer would jointly inspect the COD line to ensure that connections were not given to other towns. It was decided that both the officials would undertake a joint visit to the line as pointed out by the town nazim.

The city nazim said work on ongoing uplift projects in Lyari was being carried out with fast pace and assured that they would be completed within stipulated time. He claimed that water supply and sewerage situation had improved in Lyari as compared to the past six months and it would further improve after completion of ongoing water and sewerage projects.—PPI
