The commander-in-chief of Iran’s armed forces, the country’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, has announced that he has issued decrees appointing six senior commanders across the General Staff, IRGC and Basij.
Major General Ali Abdollahi was named chief of staff of the Armed Forces, with Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari as his deputy. Ahmad Vahidi, promoted to major general, was appointed commander-in-chief of the IRGC, with Mostafa Izadi as his deputy.
Rear Admiral Ali Ozmaei was named commander of the IRGC Navy, and Hossein Taeb was appointed head of the Basij.
