LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has reshuffled the roles of its recently appointed foreign coaches, with Herman Kruis now serving as national hockey coaching adviser and Bob Johan Veldhof taking charge as head coach for the upcoming FIH World Cup.

Kruis was initially appointed on July 3 as National Hockey Coaching Advisor and head coach of the national team for an initial two-year period. A few days later, Veldhof was appointed goalkeeping coach.

David Dwyer was also appointed high-performance coach, while Chris Bowen was given the dual role of technical coach and sports psychologist. Adnan Zakir was the only Pakistani among the newly appointed coaches, being named junior talent identification coach.

However, PHF president Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani told Dawn on Friday that Kruis would serve only as national hockey coaching adviser, while Veldhof had been elevated from goalkeeping coach to head coach for the FIH World Cup, to be jointly hosted by the Netherlands and Belgium from Aug 15 to 30.

Asked about the role of former Pakistan captain and Olympian Tahir Zaman, who was appointed Director High Performance on May 21, Mr Wani said he had now become his advisor.
