Lack of libraries in Turbat

Through the esteemed column of Young World and the platform of Dawn, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to a serious problem — the lack of libraries in Turbat.

Although Turbat is the second-largest city in Balochistan, it has only one public library, which also lacks basic facilities such as electricity and drinking water. During the summer, many students cannot study there because of the extreme heat, while others have to spend money on buying water. Every year, many students travel to other cities just to access better academic resources, and those who cannot afford to do so discontinue their education.

The authorities should establish more public libraries and improve the existing one by ensuring electricity, clean drinking water and a comfortable study environment. I hope my concern reaches the relevant authorities through your respected newspaper and that prompt action is taken.

Fatherhood: the ultimate upgrade

This is regarding the cover article “Fatherhood: the ultimate upgrade” by Ambreen Arshad (YW, June 20).

I loved how the writer compared different generations of fathers to software updates. It made the article fun to read while also showing how parenting has changed over time.

The article reminded readers to appreciate their fathers for the little things they do every day, instead of comparing them to the ideals shown in films.

Becoming Dorothy

This is with reference to the story “Becoming Dorothy” by Hareem Yahya (YW, June 13).

The story showed that sometimes success comes after unexpected setbacks. I felt sorry for the writer when her marks were miscalculated, but I admired the way she stayed patient and made the most of the second chance she received.

Her journey from disappointment to playing the lead role of Dorothy was inspiring and proved that hard work never goes to waste.
