SAHIWAL: District police registered three criminal cases against 47 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) divisional and district office-bearers, activists, and ticket holders for staging protest rallies demanding the release of party founder Imran Khan.

The cases were registered on Thursday morning and four persons, including two students, were arrested.

Nearly five dozen PTI leaders, workers, and activists, joined by members of the Lawyers’ Wing, held rallies at Gass Mandi, Liaquat Chowk and Jinnah Chowk.

The participants dispersed quickly before police could intervene.

Police sources said raids were conducted at the homes of PTI leaders and workers, but those directly involved in the protests evaded arrest.

TOBA TEK SINGH: Toba City police booked on Thursday 33 PTI activists for taking out a rally on Wednesday to demand the release of party founder Imran Khan and arrested two of them.

The complainant, sub-inspector Tahir Mahmood, claimed in FIR registered under sections 290 and 291 of PPC and 16 of MPO that district PTI President Advocate Mian Abdul Basit, former MPA Saeed Ahmad Saeedi and a PTI defeated ticket holder for provincial assembly Sardar Khawar Sher Gadhi and 30 others blocked traffic on Canal Road.

When two of the arrested PTI activists were produced before a duty magistrate, their counsels informed the court that they have unlawfully been arrested by the police on the basis of baseless charges.

The court released them.

OKARA: Twenty-two PTI workers were booked and four of them were arrested over alleged attempt to block the GT road.

SARGODHA: A case has been registered against18 nominated and 25 unknown PTI leaders and workers for raising slogans against government by holding a rally.
