TOBA TEK SINGH: Seven persons, including two children, belonging to the same extended family, suffered critical burns when a fire broke out due to gas leak in air conditioner’s compressor in a house in Maqsoodabad locality of Faisalabad on Wednesday.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, a condolence event was being held in the house when gas of an air conditioner’s compressor leaked, resulting in a fire that engulfed the place. As a result, seven persons, including two children suffered critical burns.

The injured were shifted by Rescue 1122 teams to Allied Hospital, where the condition of Khurram (30) and two children -- Abdul Hadi and Areej Fatima -- was stated to be critical.

TRAFFICKER HELD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad circle claimed to have arrested, in a raid in Gojra, an alleged human trafficker.

An FIA official says the raid was conducted in connection with an FIR registered against the suspect, Afzal, under sections 17 and 22 of the Immigration Ordinance, 1979.

He says that during inquiry, it transpired that the suspect, in connivance with one Javed Iqbal, had allegedly received total Rs9 million from 18 persons, charging Rs500,000 each, on the pretext of providing them Saudi work visas.

However, the official says, the suspect could neither provide the victims work visas, nor returned their amounts, causing them huge financial losses.

During the raid, the FIA ​​team recovered documentary evidence related to the illegal overseas employment business being run by the suspect.

The official says the suspect failed to produce any legal Overseas Employment Promoter (OEP) licence or permit.

During the raid a suspect, Javed Iqbal, managed to escape, he says, adding that raids are underway to arrest him.

SUSPECT INJURED: Sangla Hill police in Nankana Sahib district claimed to have arrested a suspect in injured condition after an “encounter.”

Police claimed that a team raided a fish farm on Hanjli Ramunwala Road to arrest some proclaimed offenders, who opened indiscriminate fire on the policemen.

After a crossfire, police found one of the suspects lying injured in the firing by their accomplices, who fled the scene.

The suspect was identified as Zarnab Qazi, wanted in 58 cases of murder, shooting and robbery, registered in different districts, the police claimed.

ELECTROCUTED: A child was electrocuted at Mauza Korywala on Bhakkar Road in Jhang district on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 officials say that eight-year-old Abbas was playing in his house when he touched a live electric wire, suffering a massive electric shock. He died instantly.

PROBE ORDERED: After protest by the family of a woman who allegedly died due to a female doctor’s negligence during a C-section procedure in a private clinic at Shahkot, Nankana Sahib Deputy Commissioner Ra’ana Hameed has ordered an inquiry into the incident.

The DC has formed an inquiry committee headed by additional deputy commissioner to ascertain the facts, fix responsibility and determine the actual cause and circumstances leading to the woman’s death.

Other members of the committee include district health authority CEO, assistant commissioner and medical superintendents of Nankana Sahib DHQ Hospital and Sangla Hill THQ Hospital.
