BAHAWALPUR: The administration has installed three sculptures to beautify the city’s busy and important intersections as a part of a beautification campaign.
Divisional Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia told Dawn that three sculptures and public art pieces were installed at DC Chowk, Government College of Technology, Bahawalpur’s Chowk and at the triangular park in front of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College (QAMC), Bahawalpur, on Circular Road with public-private partnership (PPP).
He said the Islamic iconic fountain structure had been erected at DC Chowk at a cost of Rs4.5m in collaboration with a local company. It was completed within two months. The structure was designed and built by MD landscaping and figured a strong fiberglass and best quality iron structure with a total height of 22 feet including the concrete base. The roundabout has a total diameter of 25 feet, decorated with beautiful light brown, dark brown flower shapes and sky blue ceramic tiles.
The monument features the first Kalma and intricate artwork depicting a camel, two deer, and four flamingoes, date palm, crafted from premium fiberglass and a pelican representing Bahawalpur and Islamic culture. Besides, the front of the frame is displaying a Pakistan flag made from artificial premium grass.
The monument includes multi-coloured lights illuminating the plants, fountain and fiberglass structure creating beautiful visual effects at night alongside ornamental plants and a fountain.
The second sculpture erected at the Government College of Technology Chowk on Hasilpur Road features a strong umbrella-shaped steel structure with a total height of 21 feet, including the concrete base costing about Rs1.4m. It is decorated with beautiful white and sky blue ceramic tiles. It is equipped with multi-coloured LED lights, reflecting advanced technology creating stunning visual effects at night.
The third sculpture has been built at triangular park in front of the QAMC, at a cost of Rs4.1m. It features palms, evergreen trees with muti-coloured flowering shrubs, beautiful porous stones and premium lush green Dacca grass. It has two deer and four flamingos built with fiberglass and strong iron structure and equipped with muti-coloured garden lights at each portion.
