SWAT: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has said that federal government, provincial governments and all political forces must move forward with complete unity and coordination to eliminate terrorism and ensure lasting peace in the country.

He was talking to journalists during his visit to Swat on Tuesday. He visited Saidu Sharif Hospital and enquired after the injured of the other day’s suicide blast. He prayed for their swift recovery and expressed sympathy with the affected families.

Malakand Commissioner Masood Ahmad, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Fida Hassan Shah, senior officials of district administration, police and other departments accompanied the governor during the visit.

The governor reviewed medical facilities being provided to the injured. He directed the hospital administration to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured.

He described the terrorist attack as a cowardly act and said that the suffering of injured was shared by the entire province and the nation. He said that the government stood firmly with the affected families. He said that the sacrifices of martyrs and injured in the ongoing fight against terrorism would always be remembered.

Later, the governor visited the office of RPO, where he was given a briefing on the overall law and order situation in Malakand division, ongoing counter-terrorism measures, operational preparedness of police, prevailing security challenges and strategies being adopted to combat terrorism.

He also offered prayers for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and for patience and strength for their bereaved families.

Talking to journalists, Mr Kundi paid tribute to police and security forces for their years of courage and steadfastness in the fight against terrorism. He acknowledged that police were yet to be fully equipped with modern weapons and resources required to effectively counter security threats.

He said that federal government, provincial governments and all political forces must move forward with complete unity and coordination to eliminate terrorism and ensure lasting peace in the country.

MUQAM: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and Safron Engineer Amir Muqam, offered prayers for the elevation of the ranks and forgiveness of Dr Muaz Khan, who was martyred in the Kabal suicide blast.

Dr Muaz Khan had recently returned to Pakistan from abroad. He was the only brother of four sisters. Mr Muqam said that martyrs, who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism, were a source of pride for the entire country.
