SUKKUR: A man was killed and 14 other people were injured when a speeding passenger van overturned on Shikarpur Bypass near Shaikh Ayaz University, officials at the New Faujdari police station said on Monday.
They said the injured men, women and children were rushed to the Shikarpur Civil Hospital for emergency treatment. They identified the deceased passenger as Abdul Hameed Mirani, 35.
According to the injured passengers, the van was on its way to Shikarpur from Sukkur when one of its tyres burst and caused the speeding vehicle to overturn.
Some of the injured passengers were identified as Mohammad Ramzan Mirani, Arbelo Jafferi, Rafiq Jafferi, Mohammad Ramzan, Ghazi Bhangwar, Jafar Jatoi, Musamat Zaitoona Khatoon, Musamat Sardaran Khatoon, Gul Hassan Jatoi, Saddam, Jumma Khan Nindwani, Sahib Khan Teghani, Shahmor and others.
The body was handed over to the heirs after medico-legal formalities.
The police have taken the damaged vehicle into custody.
