KARACHI: A boy suffered burns after a pole-mounted transformer (PMT) of the K-Electric caught fire in Korangi on Saturday, police and rescue services officials said.
Zaman Town SHO Ayaz Khan said Aziz Ali was standing near the PMT near the Coast Guards Chowrangi when it caught fire. As a result, Ali sustained burns and was admitted to the burns centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi.
Terming the incident “tragic”, a KE spokesperson said: “The accident occurred due to a violation of the prescribed safety clearance from the electricity transmission system, coupled with an unsafe activity.”
