KARACHI: The Sindh IT Company (SITC) on Saturday signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with Shah Abdul Latif University (Salu), Khairpur, to digitise the university’s examination records, a step aimed at strengthening academic integrity and eliminating the risk of fraudulent degrees.
The signing ceremony was attended by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information Technology Ali Rashid, Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC) Chairman Prof Tariq Rafi, Salu Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Yousuf Khushk and SITC CEO Zainulabedin Shah.
Under the agreement, SITC will develop and implement a secure digital system to store, manage and verify examination records, replacing manual processes that have historically been vulnerable to tampering and fraudulent degree issuance, said a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, CM’s aide Ali Rashid said the agreement reflects the Sindh government’s commitment to protecting the credibility of the province’s higher education institutions.
“Every fraudulent degree undermines the hard work of thousands of students who earned their credentials honestly.
This partnership ensures that Salu’s academic records are secure, verifiable, and protected for the future,” he said.
The SHEC chairman said the agreement marks a significant step towards restoring trust in the province’s higher education system.
The SITC chief said that the initiative reflected the company’s broader mandate to strengthen institutional trust through technology.
“Fake degrees don’t just harm the university; they harm every student who earned their degree honestly. Digitising these records means every credential issued by Salu can be verified with confidence, permanently,” he said.
The press release said that SITC continued to expand its footprint across the province’s higher education sector, building on its ongoing work with the SHEC to digitise governance and security across public universities.
The agreement marks another step in Sindh’s broader effort to safeguard academic credibility and modernise public sector record-keeping through digital infrastructure, it added.
