RAWALPINDI: A police official booked for allegedly physically assaulting his mother, pulling her hair and abusing his brother has sought interim bail from a local court, where he will appear on Saturday, police said.

Interim bail is granted by a court to an accused person to protect them from immediate arrest while an investigation is ongoing.

Police said the official was booked for allegedly assaulting his mother and attacking his brother, who had intervened to rescue her, in Jhanda Chi Chi.

The mother of the accused, a resident of Jhanda Chi Chi, approached the Civil Lines police and stated that she was at home when her son Farrukh Munir asked her to hand over the keys.

She said that when she told him the keys had been misplaced, he became angry, started abusing her and assaulted her.

In the FIR, she alleged, “He slapped me, pulled my hair and also caused nail injuries on my face.”

She further stated that when her son Kashif tried to intervene and rescue her,

Farrukh also attacked and beat him.

She said that after Kashif rescued her, he called the emergency police helpline 15.

Following her complaint, police registered an FIR against the official, who is posted at the

Police Lines Headquarters Rawalpindi.
