KARACHI: A man was shot dead in a suspected targeted attack off Superhighway on Saturday evening.

SITE-Superhighway Industrial Area SHO Mohammad Nawaz Chaudhry said that three persons were travelling in a Suzuki Alto car. When they reached Jamali Pul near Ayub Goth police post, armed motorcyclists intercepted their vehicle and opened fire and rode away.

As a result of firing, car driver Khadim Husain, 50, suffered bullet wounds and died on the spot.

The police arrived at the scene and shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The area SHO suspected some personal enmity behind the incident. However, further investigations were underway, he added.

Suspect shot dead in ‘encounter’

A suspect was shot dead in an alleged encounter in Gulistan-i-Jauhar late on Friday night, police said on Saturday.

Sharea Faisal police said the suspect was identified as Ayaz alias KK.

The police conducted a raid near Rabia City to arrest him, but he resorted to firing. He was killed in an ensuing exchange of gunfire.

A pistol, several cell phones and a snatched bike were recovered from his custody.

The killed suspect had a past criminal record as he was declared absconder in attempted murder, robbery and possession of illegal arm cases.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The police said he had killed a man over a personal dispute in Mujahid Colony of Shanti Nagar.
