Website review: Guess the numbers!

Published Updated

We are all fascinated when we come across some numbers, like how many people live in Canada compared to Australia, or who eats more pizza, Americans or Italians?

That kind of random curiosity is normal and we all have it, and if you really want to know the numbers in different categories and wonder where to get them — Dataguessr is the right site for you. As the name suggests, the site shows you numbers on any topic you can think of.

The website collects facts from around the world, such as numbers, stats, population, climate, money, and all that stuff.

But it’s not boring like a textbook; it’s presented like a game where you guess whether a number is ‘higher’ or ‘lower’ than another.

As you open the site, you see “Play Today’s Challenge” right in the middle; that’s basically the daily quiz everyone does. Under that there’s a box with a random question. Below that are boxes with numerous categories, such as demographics, climate and energy, environment and nature, health, rights and equality, living conditions, etc., each with subtopics. When you click any topic, say population or climate or whatever, it just drops you straight into that quiz.

Based on your selection, the site then gives you two options and asks, “Does this country (or anything) have more of this than that one?” and you just pick higher or lower. Super easy to get how it works, takes 10 seconds to understand.

There’s also a “Sign in” option if you want to save your streaks, like how many days in a row you’ve played, to save across your phone and computer.

The layout of the website is dark-themed, quite different from a lot of others out there, and the good thing is there are no ads at all. The whole site is dedicated to numbers from all kinds of fields, and it keeps you hooked with its random animations according to the category you choose, so there aren’t any boring stats, but actually a fun play of numbers.

The website is a good one to bookmark, perfect for when school’s back in session and you need real numbers for your project or assignment. https://www.dataguessr.com/
