Five arrested for ‘rape’ of teenage boy in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: The Dunyapur City Police claimed on Thursday to have arrested five alleged rapists for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old boy by blackmailing him through a video shot.

According to a Lodhran Police spokesperson, the prime rapist ‘S’ allegedly lured the victim ‘A’ to his cousin’s house in Fazal Colony and raped him after drugging him. He also recorded a video of the incident.

Later, the spokesperson claimed the accused showed this video to his four friends of different areas and they blackmailed the victim and repeatedly raped him.

According to the FIR, all the five suspects frequently raped the boy.

The victim’s father claimed when he saw his son being upset and asked him, he narrated his ordeal and they approached the police.

The spokesperson said that after conducting raids at different hideouts of the suspects, the police arrested all the five accused.

The victim has been referred for a medical examination at the Dunyapur THQ Hospital.

ACCIDENT: A woman drowned in the canal while her husband and daughter were rescued by onlookers when their motorcycle rickshaw swerved off the road and plunged into the canal near Tibi Sadiqabad at Dera Bakha on the Bahawalpur-Bahawalnagar Highway on Thursday.

According to Rescue 1122, a labourer, along with his family members, was going to the fields for work when, in an attempt to avoid a collision with a motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction, the rickshaw driver lost control while crossing the canal bridge. As a result, the rickshaw went off the road and plunged into the canal.

All three family members fell in the canal, where Noor Bibi (25) drowned, while her husband Khizer Abbas (22) and their daughter were rescued by the people there.

Rescue 1122 launched an operation to search for the body of Noor Bibi, whose body was recovered after a ten-hour-long operation.

The rickshaw driver also suffered injuries and was rushed to the Dera Bakha Health Center.

ROBBERY GONE WRONG: Two armed motorcyclists allegedly shot and killed one Siraj Bhatti for resisting during a dacoity attempt near Shan Chowk of Muslim Town in the limits of Daniwal Police station in Vehari district.

According to the police, deceased Siraj Bhatti was taking cash home from a bank when two motorcyclists intercepted him near Shan Chowk and attempted to rob him. After he put up strong resistance, police claimed the dacoits opened fire and fled after snatching the cash.

Locals shifted the victim to the hospital, where he succumbed to his bullet wounds.

The Daniwal Police collected evidence and registered a case against unidentified motorcyclists.
