Governor urges govt to set up KPPSC regional offices

Published Updated

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday proposed the establishment of regional offices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) in Dera Ismail Khan, Malakand and Abbottabad districts to facilitate candidates from remote areas of the province.

In this regard, the governor has written to the chief minister, recommending the establishment of the regional offices of KPPSC by utilising existing government infrastructure.

In his letter, Mr Kundi pointed out that the KPPSC currently operated only from its headquarters in Peshawar, requiring candidates from southern, northern and other far-flung districts to travel long distances to appear in examinations and interviews.

He said that this placed a financial burden on applicants, particularly women, who faced difficulty travelling to the provincial capital. He said the move would promote merit, transparency and equitable access to public service recruitment across all regions of the province.

Mr Kundi also noted that after the merger of the erstwhile Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the province’s population had increased, necessitating the expansion of the commission’s outreach.

The governor urged the chief minister to approve the proposal and direct the preparation of a feasibility report for establishing the KPPSC regional offices.
