TAROUBA: Centuries from Babar Azam and Azan Awais put Pakistan in a strong position on the second day of their four-day warm-up against the West Indies XI here at the Brian Lara Stadium on Sunday.

Resuming at the overnight score of 184-2 in their first innings, Pakistan in a fine batting display moved to 455-4 ahead of the two-match Test series against the West Indies starting on July 25.

Awais, unbeaten on 78 overnight, became the first centurion of the match after sharing a century partnership with Babar. The opener retired out after compiling 100 off 241 deliveries, striking nine fours and a six.

Then Babar with young Abdullah Fazal added valuable runs as the former reached his half-century before converting it into a fluent hundred. Babar was eventually retired out after scoring a 151-ball 100 laced with 12 fours and a six.

Abdullah brought up his half-century before retiring out on 50 including six boundaries.

Salman Ali Agha then joined Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan crossed the 400-run mark. However, Salman (46) was dismissed by Ryan Bandoo.

Rizwan was later joined by Aamer Jamal, with the pair steering Pakistan beyond the 450- mark. Aamer became Pakistan’s fourth wicket to fall after scoring 22 before Bandoo struck again.

At the close of play, Rizwan was unbeaten on 44.
