QUETTA, Oct 17: Two rockets fired from unknown direction exploded in the cantonment area of the provincial capital on Wednesday night without causing any loss to life and property.

One rocket landed near a military police check post near police lines on a traffic island on Gulistan Road causing a deep crater in the ground.

The second rocket exploded near a ordinance depot on the main Ordinance Road. But no loss of life or damage was reported.

Inspector General Police Dr Shoaib Suddle who rushed to the spot where the first rocket exploded hinted at “certain elements from Afghanistan” responsible for the incident.

“We are combing the mountains around Quetta to trace the culprits,” he said and added that it looked a crude timer rocket firing device and there was no fix target.
