LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana has put the Lahore police on high alert keeping in view the sensitivity of the security situation and ordered the field officers to strictly follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) to safeguard Majalis and mourning processions.
According to a statement issued by the Lahore police spokesperson here on Monday, a total of 416 Majalis and 59 mourning processions are being held across the provincial capital.
The Majalis include 51 categorized as Category-A, 282 as Category-B and 83 as Category-C. A heavy contingent of police officers and personnel has been deployed to maintain law and order.
He said the Section 144 is being strictly enforced in accordance with the directives of the Punjab Home Department and said that no Majlis or procession would be permitted outside the designated timings, routes and venues.
He added that real-time monitoring of all religious gatherings is being carried out round the clock through the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), dedicated police control rooms and advanced technological surveillance.
Mr Kamyana directed divisional SPs to maintain constant liaison with members of peace committees, organisers and relevant stakeholders to preempt any untoward incident.
Furthermore, the CCPO noted that human intelligence operations and rigorous social media monitoring are being utilised to maintain peace and promote sectarian harmony, adding that a strict vigil is being kept on miscreants.
