Ten injured in separate roof collapse incidents

TOBA TEK SINGH: As many as 10 members of two families were injured in separate roof collapse incidents during the windstorm and rain in different parts of the province.

In one incident, five members of a family were critically injured after the roof of their house collapsed in Faisalabad’s Ship Town on Thursday night.

Rescue 1122 said that the roof of the first floor of the double-storey house collapsed due to rain. The rescuers pulled all the injured out of the rubble, provided them first aid and shifted them to the Allied Hospital. They were identified as Amjad Javed (55), his wife Tanzila (45), his sons Abubakar (12) and Omar (14) and daughter Zainab (16).

In another similar incident, five members of a family were injured after the roof of a room of their house collapsed during rain on Thursday night in Chak 45/25L of Mian Channu tehsil.

Rescuers and locals pulled the family out from under the debris and they were shifted to the Mian Channu THQ Hospital.

They included Sajjad Alam, his wife Mumtaz Bibi, son Sufian, daughter Hadiqa and his sister-in-law Yasmin Shahid.

Meanwhile, a passerby was killed when a solar panel fell from the roof of a house during a heavy windstorm in Chak 84/15L of Mian Channu tehsil.

The man, identified as Abdul Rauf Kamboh, received a head injury and he succumbed on the way to the hospital.

ARREST: The FIA on Friday claimed to have arrested two accused involved in fraud in the name of foreign employment.

An FIA spokesperson claimed that Muzammil and Asad Abbas extorted Rs4 millions from Qaiser Abbas by promising him a job in Finland. However, he was sent to Belarus and the agreed job was not provided.

Further investigation of the case was underway to trace other possible facilitators of this network, the spokesperson added.

MURDER: A local businessman was allegedly killed by his rivals over an old enmity in Nankana Sahib on Friday.

In his complaint, victim’s father Rana Muhammad Jamil claimed that his son was on his way on a bike in Gurdwara street when Usman of Jandiala Sher Khan and his three accomplices on bikes opened indiscriminate fire on him and killed him.

It is pertinent to mention that both groups had previously been involved in murder cases against each other.

Police were conducting raids to arrest the accused persons who fled the scene after the attack.

Meanwhile, a man was allegedly murdered over an old enmity in Chak 738 GB of Pirmahal tehsil.

The Bhussi Police said deceased Muhammad Hanif was on his way on a motorcycle when Tabassum and Adeel allegedly opened fire on him. As a result, he was critically injured and was shifted to the Kamalia THQ Hospital where he died.

Police said the deceased was an accused in the murder of a family member of the accused.
