ISLAMABAD: A man gunned down his former wife and her mother outside their house, located a kilometre away from Aabpara police station.

According to the police, the incident occurred when Farhana Younus, her mother, Nighat Yasmin, her sister Imrana Faraz, and her brother-in-law returned from Race Course Police Station, Rawalpindi, after filing a complaint there against Farhana’s former husband, as he had divorced her three days ago.

The suspected husband appeared in front of them when they reached the house at G-6/1-4, and he allegedly opened fire, where Farhana Younus and Nighat Yasmin, who were still sitting in the car, sustained serious bullet injuries.

The man fled the scene, while the two injured, Farhana Younus and her mother, Nighat Yasmin, were taken to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

A double murder case has been registered at Aabpara police station against the man in response to a complaint lodged by the deceased’s sister, Imrana Faraz.

She told police that her sister owned some property and a vehicle, and that her husband and in-laws wanted to take ownership of the same.

Earlier, her husband and in-laws had also threatened her with dire consequences.
